Information on Parvovirus

Parvo is an opportunist and deadly virus that can kill a puppy in a matter of 24 hours.  It is shed by infected dogs via their feces and can live for months on surfaces such as concrete, grass and gravel.  It can be picked up anywhere and carried on shoes, clothing, car tires, etc. without you even knowing which in turn puts our dogs and puppies at risk if brought onto our property unknowingly.  While vaccines are effective, pups don't have full immunity until their last shot at 16 weeks and there is a window when their immunity from mom is worn off and they don't yet have full protection from vaccines.  For a beginner's primer on parvo in puppies you can visit this link:  Parvo Information

We are open to having visitors as well as having people pick up their puppy in person, but we do expect everyone to adhere to our instructions and rules when doing so.  They are meant to keep our dogs and puppies safe from communicable viruses such as parvovirus and coronavirus. 

Anyone visiting will be asked to park in a designated area, away from where the dogs are allowed.  You will be met at your vehicle with disposable shoe covers to wear.  You will be allowed to view parents on an outdoor tour, as well as any puppies 6 weeks of age or older.  We don't allow direct interaction with any puppies younger than 8 weeks of age.  It's important that their first vaccinations take effect before being handled by visitors.  We don't want to take any chances compromising unvaccinated puppies.  If you are picking up your puppy, he or she will be brought out to you once the tour is completed.  We request that you do not visit any other kennels, breeders or places (such as dog parks, rest areas, pet stores, vet clinics) where there could have been unvaccinated or ill dogs the day you pick-up your puppy.  
Also please shower and wear freshly washed clothes the day of your visit.
